Val Thorens Hotels are some of the most varied in the 3 Valleys, from basic 3 star all the way up 5 star suites with Michelin Starred restaurants. As Val Thorens is still quite a small ski resort there are still only a small number of hotels to choose from, that said it is growing. But how to choose?

To help with your decision we have and will continue to review each of the hotels in Val Thorens with a brief set of statistics on each of the Hotels, click on the hotel to read our independent review and hopefully it will help you choose the hotel for you.

Le Fitz Roy Hotel

One of Val Thorens’ four star hotels. Great location, cosy bar area with big fire, not the cheapest place but I guess you get what you pay for. Word on the piste is that it will soon be a 5 star hotel!

L’Oxalys

They call it a Chalet, “tomateos tomatoes”. Looks more like a Hotel to us. Another four star ‘Chalet’. Also boasts 2 Michelin stars which we can confirm they deserve.

Le Val Thorens

Great name! Great location. Very clean and smart hotel. With recent upgrades over the years it is one of the top hotels in the resort.

Le Sherpa

Good restaurant. You can ski to the front door, only a 1min walk to the slope. Can it get better?

Mercure

The Mercure which is part of the big hotel chain with the same name is a little off the beaten path, you might not notice it there. This a good thing as it is actually located in one the areas of Val Thorens which is very quiet. However the best bit it couldn’t be any closer to the slopes, a REAL Ski in Ski out!

Le Portillo

Good location for après ski. Getting out to the slopes is easy, a little 5min walk back though. They also provide apartments in the same building.

Val Chaviere

On the piste so Ski in/out. Close to restaurants and bars too with a short 2 min walk.

La Marmotte

Also on the piste. Only a two star Hotel so a little more basic, but a very good location.

Club Med

WOW has this hotel changed over the years. So much so they have actually built a new hotel. Located at the lower end of the resort so a little walk in the evening to the bars.

UCPA

UCPA is the French version of the YMCA and provides very cheap accommodation. It is located outside of the resort and would take about 20min to walk, uphill! Ski in/out as it’s on the piste. “Well you can get yourself cleaned and have a good meal…”
