About Val Thorens Ski Resort, France
Val Thorens is one of the most popular ski resorts in Europe for British skiers, snowboarders and anyone who loves snow. There is a very good reason too, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe and is snow sure. This means the resort is so confident that there will be enough snow to ski on every week of the season, they will refund you some of your lift pass if there isn’t.
Val Thorens is located at the top of the Belleville Valley and is actually on the lower part of Mont Peclet, so the resort is a little steeper than most ski resorts when walking around.
The resort is part of the very famous ski area, The 3 Valleys. With their neighbours Meribel, Courchevel and Les Menuires they make up the largest ski area in the World
Although the area is called The 3 Valleys (Vallees) there is actually 4 valleys, an additional one was added which lets us ski down to Orelle.
Val Thorens (more information about Val Thorens can be found on the Val Thorens History page) is very lucky as almost all the accommodation in the resort is Ski In / Ski Out, which means you can open the door from your Chalet or Hotel, clip your skis on and off you go. Additionally, it also means you can ski right back to your accommodation at the end of the day. No need to use buses or needless exercise like walking!
Val Thorens is very proud of its Snow Park, head over to the Val Thorens Snow Park for more information.
If you love your facts we have a whole page of them on our Val Thorens Facts page. We also have a more detailed resort information on our Val Thorens Information page, so if you have time you should check it out.
