Val Thorens Chalet Reviews

Map of Val Thorens, France

Our fun Chalet reviews focus on skiing, how far from pistes, is there a long walk to get there and any tips that location of the Chalet we can offer.

We haven’t stayed in all of the these Chalets – although we have stayed in a lot of them – so it would be unfair to review their cooking for example if we hadn’t tried it. Val Thorens adds new Chalets frequently so if one is not on our list we will add ASAP.

Les Neiges Eternelles

High quality chalet. Good location for the bottom of resort. Looking at their prices online they are not the cheapest Chalet in resort, but that saying you do get what you pay for.

Chalet Altitude

Great looking building. We hear rooms are a little small though – not unusual for ski accommodation. You can ski back but it’s a bit of a trek to start off in the morning, you will need to do a little walk. There is a lift in the apartment building opposite which lets you get down to the piste level easy though.

Les Chalet du Soleil

Similar location to Chalet Altitude in terms of getting to the piste, not to easy.

Les Montagnettes Lombarde

This beautiful building is right on the piste, a very good location. It is a small property so this should keep the noise down and give you a good nights sleep.

Les Montagnettes Soleil

Great location and a nice chalet to stay in. Ski in/out pretty easy.

Les Montagnettes Valbel

Great location and a nice chalet to stay in. Ski in/out pretty easy.

Village Montana Soleil/Valbel

Pretty buildings and pretty much ski in/out. Change over days (Saturdays) are very busy with vehicles around this area, so don’t panic when you arrive you see half the worlds 4x4s parked here.

Chalet des Neiges Hermine

The good, it has a swimming pool (small one anyway), the bad it’s pretty run down now and needs a little modernising. You can ski in/out but you have to be a fairly good skier as it’s a little off-piste. Otherwise a 5min walk.

Chalet des Neiges Plein Sud

You can ski almost to the door. Leaving in the morning will take 3mins to walk.

Chalet Val 2400

Skiing back ok, leaving in morning will take several minutes.

Le Balcons de Val Thorens

This Chalet is a little further away from the centre of the resort. Skiing back depends on snow conditions and quality of your skiing – the last 10 metres can be a little rocky. We have seen many people take off their skis and walk the last few metres home. Ski down Plain Sud and continue straight when it turns left.

Les Ancolies

Great location as you are right on the piste. But a good après ski is far away so a little walk after a few drinks – hiccup.

Chalet le Cristallo

Very good location. Morning Ski is right outside the front door. Only a 2min walk back at the end of the day.

Chalet les Trolles

Just above an estate agent and a bakery. Separate from other much larger buildings. Very close to the Summit nightclub. Only a 2min walk either way to ski out/in.

Val Chaviere

Right on the Piste – you couldn’t get closer! Great location and a quiet part of the resort.

Le Sabot de Venus

Nice piano bar albeit quite expensive. Ski in is good, a little 1min walk to ski out.

Les Chalet du Thorens

I’ll start with the negative, it’s about 100 miles away from Val Thorens. Ok well not quite that far, but it’s far. It will take you about 20-30mins to walk into town. They do offer a ski-doo service though. The positive is though you couldn’t get more Ski in/out than here! A unique place to stay and some great views of the stars at night.
