Val Thorens Apartment Reviews

The SkiGB team have visited all of the apartment blocks in Val Thorens over the years and we have below provided a small review of each of them. We will add further buildings as and when we visit them or they are made – it’s an expanding resort after all!. We are only commenting on location, ease of skiing, facilities etc. We would love to hear from you and what you did or didn’t like about them, please let us know!

Starting from the top of Val Thorens:

Le Gypaete

They only need to do one little thing to improve this building, knock it down! How it is still standing heaven knows. Do they give out half stars? Still it’s in a really great location and shouldn’t be expensive.

Roc de Peclet

If the apartment is south facing then you will have fantastic views of piste without another building in site. Off the beaten track of night clubers so you shouldn’t be woken up when they come back. Only 5mins walk to the bars and restaurants when you want to go out. A really good location.

Hauts de Chaviere

Try and stay as high as poss, say above floor 5 or 6 as the views are not blocked by other buildings like Roc de Peclet.

L’Hermine

Is high up in the resort and separated from other buildings, which gives it a superb view of the resort and valley. It is a small building with around 12 apartments and their garages. A highly recommended building.

Odalys Silveralp

Not the best location for views but very close to the bus station if that helps. Universities use this building so bare in mind when booking. See our Uni date section to help.

L’Arcelle

Located right on top of the shops, providing enough snow (almost all the time there is) you can ski to the door. Only a small walk to ski away again in the morning.

Our tip is to pick an apartment facing the slopes if you want the views but not too worried about the noise. Otherwise pick and rear facing apartment as it is a lot quieter.

Village Montana Soleil/Valbel

Pretty buildings and pretty much ski in/out. Change over days (Saturdays) are very busy with vehicles around this area, so don’t panic when you arrive you see half the worlds 4x4s parked here.

Le Tikal

Very basic, VERY BASIC!

Close to a supermarket and Ski Schools as well as parking. It is a little distance to the centre of the resort.

Les Temples du Soleil

Many locals call the bottom of the resort ‘Temples’ as this building is very big. Lots of hallways to get lost in. A Ski in/out location. Has it’s own supermarket and a few shops.
